Your first trade

What to check before, during, and after your first trade so it does not become the one you regret.

Updated 2026-07-25

Before you start

  1. Look up both items first. Knowing the numbers before you talk is the whole point.
  2. Decide what you will not give up, whatever they offer.
  3. Remember you can walk away. There will be another trade.

In the trade window

  1. Both sides add items at the same time. Never go first.
  2. Read every item in the window, not the icons — names matter.
  3. Read it again right before accepting.
  4. If anything changed, cancel. Do not ask why.

Offers to turn down

  • "Send first and I'll send back" — no.
  • "My friend will hold it for us" — no.
  • "Add me and I'll gift it" — no.
  • "Quick, I have to go" — no.

When the verdict is close

A fair verdict means the two sides are close in value, not that the trade is good for you. If you are giving away something you actually enjoy for something you do not want, a fair trade is still a bad trade.

The numbers stop you being cheated. What you want out of the game is still your call.
